Abstract :

The recent restructuring of local ecosystems in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region (2016) has led stakeholders to reinvent themselves. The region is part of the need to achieve a critical economic size in a globalized environment. Paradoxically, it also takes the risk of losing proximity to sustainably transform its local ecosystems (in the sense of Tansley, 1933; Moore, 1993; and more recently Koenig, 2012). One of the transformative solutions has been to digitize the act of donation in order to perpetuate the local embedding of socio-economic actors. The founding works of Mauss (1924), supported by Godbout (2004) and Caillé (2004), allow us to approach the socio-economic role in the act of giving. Thus, the digitalisation of relations between donors and organizations could tend to a loss of socio-economic proximity: numerous studies have demonstrated this risk (for example: Degryse, 2016 and Delahaye, 2019). However, the creation of a digital and regionalized crowdfunding platform in Nouvelle Aquitaine has brought up communities of citizens (to date, 70% of citizen-donors of this platform live within 70 kilometers of the holders of funded projects). Digitalisation is done to the benefit of a territory and not vice versa. Can this digitalised relationship paradoxically transform the recomposition of local ecosystems in Nouvelle Aquitaine over the long term ?
