<r2r:ml lang="en">The text below provides an analysis of the orator’s ability to convey passions to his audience, with the help of his speech. The case study for emphasizing the link between the words of the orator and the passions which he can convey is the well-known speeches of Cicero: the Catiline Orations. Two examples are, in our opinion, perfect illustrations for what we want to argue: the metaphor and the rhetorical interrogation. The research shows, with telling discursive sequences from Catiline Orations, the strength of these two rhetorical devices to accompany themselves by an impressive force of passion which is capable of influencing, to a great degree, the audience.</r2r:ml><r2r:ml lang="fr">Le présent texte propose une analyse de la capacité de l’orateur de transmettre à son auditoire, par l’intermédiaire de son discours, des passions. L’étude de cas destinée à mettre en évidence la liaison entre les paroles de l’orateur et les passions qu’il peut induire porte sur les fameux discours de Cicéron : les Catilinaires. Il y a deux exemples qui sont, à notre opinion, des illustrations parfaites de ce que nous voulons argumenter : la métaphore et l’interrogation rhétorique. L’investigation montre, à partir de séquences discursives pertinentes des Catilinaires, la capacité de ces deux figures rhétoriques de s’accompagner d’une force passionnelle impressionnante qui est à même d’influencer dans une grande mesure l’auditoire.</r2r:ml>
