Abstract :

Education in emergencies, such as refugee camps, is attracting increasing interest worldwide. However, there is a lack of scientific knowledge about education in refugee camps (Dryden-Peterson et al., 2015). This is even more evident when it comes to the impact of education programmes imposed on refugees by host countries. In the context of ongoing field research, this article thus offers an analytical look at the ministerial interest in focusing on the Jordanian education programme in schools in the Zaatari camp for Syrian refugees. It then attempts to examine some of the implications of this curriculum. The article is based on the analysis of interviews and questionnaires carried out with different actors in the educational process of a formal school in the Zaatari camp.

Keywords : emergency situation, education, education programme, Jordan, Zaatari camp, emergency, education, Syrian refugees, Jordan, Zaatari camp

Amal Khaleefa - Université Sorbonne-Nouvelle Paris 3

amal_khaleefa@yahoo.fr
