Abstract: This study focuses on the process of writing an argumentative text in French as a second language by Chinese-speaking learners. The learners’ writings are also analysed with the same criteria. At the end of the study, we propose some methodological issues for teachers and students.

Keywords : argumentation, writing, planification, didactics of writing in a second language, involvement of the writer, letter of protest
