<p><strong>Résumé</strong></p>

<p>L’article est consacré à l’<em>Atlas linguistique pour servir à l’étude du duel</em> en slovène de Lucien Tesnière, paru en 1925 chez Champion et dont la traduction vient de sortir en 2022, presque 100 ans après.</p>

<p>L’Atlas est la première manifestation de la recherche dans la linguistique géographique de ce phénomène ainsi que la première représentation du matériau linguistique sous forme d’atlas pour le monde slave. Tesnière, qui fut le premier lecteur de la langue française en Slovénie, à l’Université de Ljubljana nouvellement créée en 1919, travaillait sur le terrain sous la direction d'Antoine Meillet dans le cadre de la naissante linguistique structurale qui a influencé toute son œuvre. Malheureusement, fortement marquée par l’esprit néogrammairien de leur maître linguiste Fran Ramovš, il n’a pas pu orienter la linguistique slovène, vers la recherche sur le terrain, en synchronie. Nous essayons d’éclairer ici, à travers le contenu de l’Atlas, les témoignages connus à partir de la correspondance de Tesnière ainsi que de nombreux articles, écrits à ce propos, quel était le rôle de Lucien Tesnière en Slovénie, mais aussi sa contribution pour la Slovénie et le slovène.</p>

<p><strong>Abstract</strong></p>

<p>The article is devoted to Lucien Tesniere’s <em>Atlas linguistique pour servir à l’étude du duel</em>, published in 1925 by Champion, and whose translation into Slovene was not published until 2022, almost 100 years later.</p>

<p>The Atlas is the first manifestation of research of this phenomenon within the geographical linguistics and the first representation of linguistic material on several maps, forming an atlas, for the Slavic world. Tesniere, the first lecturer of the French language in Slovenia, at the newly established University of Ljubljana in 1919, was conducting a dialectological field research in Slovenia under the direction of Meillet in the framework of the emerging structural linguistics which influenced all his work. Unfortunately, he was not able to direct Slovenian linguistics, which was strongly influenced by the neogrammatical spirit of their master linguist Ramovš, towards synchronous data gathering. Through the contents of Tesniere’s Atlas, the known testimonies from Tesniere’s correspondence and numerous articles written in this connection, we try to clarify Tesniere’s role in Slovenia, but also for Slovenia and Slovene.</p>
